The Basics
- The swimmers body wants to be able to be lifted out of the water with your hips up.
- The swimmers arms move around in a circle in front of your body, both your arms simultaneous in an inward motion.
- The swimmers legs move in the way of a frog, big strong kicks using both of your legs simultaneously in a circle motion.
- The swimmers head should always be facing the bottom of the pool, to breath one picks their head up still facing the bottom.
- Off of a start and every wall, a swimmer must do a pullout, a pullout requires you to glide as far as you can in streamline position, than pulling your arms down simultaneously to your side, while doing that you are allowed one fly kick, use it. After that the next step is to glide until comfortable and than start your stroke. (only do a pullout in this stroke).
Tips
- During breaststroke you take a breath every single stroke, try not to make it a long breath, when you breath your not moving. make it quick and short.
- Common mistake by most breaststroke swimmers is they rest when they breath, rest after your breath when you have a long glide, can save a lot of time.
- You must kick when your hips are up to be the most efficient.
- Most of time made up is off the turns, make every turn count with a strong pullout.
